Description:
"A book is a dream that you hold in your hands." – Neil Gaiman
To celebrate the joy of reading and to instill a lifelong love for books, our school observed St. Karen’s Reading Week from 23rd to 27th June 2025, embracing the wonder of stories and the magic of imagination. The week-long celebration aimed to foster a deep love for reading among students from Kindergarten to Std 5 through a series of vibrant and enriching activities.
Day 1 unfolded with a burst of creativity and curiosity. Our Kindergarteners delighted in Picture Book Reading, exploring colourful stories filled with wonder and learning. Meanwhile, students from Std 1 to 5 participated in Book Cover Talks, where they shared insights about their chosen covers—guessing plots, imagining characters, and discussing how the artwork shaped their expectations of the story.
They also engaged in the Story Book Cover Designing activity, pouring their imaginations onto paper—recreating covers of beloved books or inventing new ones for stories they conjured themselves. The exercise beautifully blended visual artistry with literary expression, encouraging students to engage deeply with narrative ideas.
The day marked a delightful beginning to a week poised to kindle not just a reading habit, but to gently guide young minds into the world of books, storytelling, and creative interpretation.
